Sumario:Growth should be inclusive and pro poor. Financial inclusion is a way to pro poor growth. The achievement of the same is still remaining as a question in Indian case even though, the Government is trying to bring the entire population to the perimeter of banking circle. According to Wold Bank Database on financial inclusion - 2014, account penetration in India is only 53 per cent. Moreover, the Report continues that among the BRICS countries India is lowest in using accounts for payments. Only 15 per cent of adults in the Country are using their account to make or receive payments. It reveals that we have to go a long distance to achieve the evergreen goal of financial inclusion. The present study focuses on the financial inclusion aspect of the Direct Benefit Transfer, the new Programme launched by the Government of India, in the year 2013, which transfer the financial assistance of the government directly into the beneficiary’s bank account. The study is based on the implementation of the DBTL in Wayanad District.
