520 |a Various studies have come up with the association between academic achievement and procrastination. The purpose of this study was to understand the role of self-efficacy on procrastination and academic achievement. A total of 100 students (50 males and 50 females) age ranging from 13-17 participated in the study. Participants were selected from different schools of Malappuram district, Kerala. Stratified random sampling technique was used to collect data. Academic achievement was measured using the performance of students in the previous exams. Findings of the study indicated that self-efficacy plays a significant role in academic achievement and not in procrastination. When groups where formed on the basis of self-efficacy three groups were found to differ significantly on academic achievement. To conclude, present study explores the three variables like self-efficacy, procrastination and achievement among young adults. The study also tries to find out the role of self-efficacy on procrastination and achievement among adolescents and youth. The implication of the present study is that continuous intervention should be given to enhance self-efficacy of individuals and there by improve achievement level and eliminate procrastination among young adults.
