About two thirds of India’s people live in rural areas, and almost of them are poor. A major cause of poverty among rural people in India is lack of access to productive assets and financial resources. The economic advancement made by the country has not yet seeped into the rural backward regions. The planning process should result in policies and action plans, which enable backward regions to overcome the disadvantages they face and achieve a state of parity with the mainstream regions in the shortest possible time. The concerns for poverty alleviation should be achieved through meaningful employment policies as employment is a key instrument to eradicate poverty. | ||
